About

Walks on the Wildside / Multisensory Moves is a new field trip opportunity with PossAbilities, an area occupational therapy clinic founded by former homeschool mom Jean Wetherilt!

Trained therapists will lead homeschool children in grades 2-6 through fun, play and movement-based learning (lots of animal walks).

Students will enjoy multiple activity stations, crafts, and group projects throughout the morning. They will also exercise their fine motor and gross motor skills, explore self-regulation and executive functioning development, and have multisensory fun along the way!

Spring 2025

We have two field trip options, each in different locations:

  • 9-11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Merriam clinic location (6223 Slater St., Merriam, KS 66202)
  • 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Lee’s Summit clinic location (248 NE Chipman Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063)

For The Parents

In today’s increasingly sedentary world, emphasizing skills-based activities and multi-sensory movement to our children has never been more timely!

This field trip will accomplish the following learning objectives:

  • Teach children about their nervous system in age-appropriate ways.
  • Emphasize the importance of movement, self-regulation, and executive functioning skills.
  • Provide opportunities to develop fine motor and gross motor skills.
  • Offer group socialization among peers in a safe and supervised environment.

Walks on the Wildside / Multisensory Moves includes its own customized curriculum and can count toward health science, biology, and more.
